Privacy Policy

Aurora Security ("Aurora," "we," "our," or "the App") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App accesses, how it is used, when it may be shared, and what choices you have.

Aurora Security is designed as a personal safety assistance tool with strong on-device processing. In normal operation, the App performs sound detection and AI analysis on your device. However, certain emergency features may send information to your selected contacts or third-party delivery services when you enable those features.

Effective date: April 24, 2026

1. Information We Access

Aurora Security may access the following categories of information, depending on which features you enable:

  • microphone input;
  • device location;
  • phone numbers and emergency contact information that you enter;
  • phone call capability;
  • SMS capability;
  • notification permission;
  • app configuration and safety settings; and
  • locally stored emergency history, including alert text, AI result text, and locally saved audio clips when applicable.

Aurora Security does not access your contacts list directly from the device address book. Emergency contacts are the phone numbers or Telegram recipients that you configure yourself.

2. How We Use Permissions

Aurora Security requests permissions only for core safety features and only for the purposes described below:

  • Microphone: Used to detect high-decibel sound events and, if enabled, perform on-device AI analysis to assess whether a recorded emergency clip may indicate danger.
  • Location: Used to include your location in emergency alerts sent to your selected contacts.
  • Phone Call: Used to place an emergency phone call to your configured contact if you enable the phone call feature.
  • SMS: Used to send emergency text alerts to your configured contacts if you enable SMS alerts.
  • Notifications: Used to display safety status, active monitoring, emergency countdowns, and other important app events.

3. On-Device Processing

Aurora Security is designed to process routine sound detection and AI analysis on the device itself.

In normal monitoring operation:

  • continuous or routine audio is not uploaded to Aurora servers;
  • sound detection runs locally on the device; and
  • AI analysis, when available and enabled, runs on-device.

Aurora does not continuously stream your microphone audio to our servers.

4. Emergency Alerts and Audio Sharing

When an alarm is triggered, Aurora Security may generate and send emergency information to the contacts you selected, depending on the features you enabled.

This may include:

  • alert text;
  • your location or location link;
  • AI analysis results; and
  • a short emergency audio clip.

A 5-second crisis audio clip may be shared only when:

  • an emergency alert is triggered; and
  • audio sharing for contacts is enabled in the App.

If that feature is enabled, the clip may be transmitted through Aurora's delivery backend and then forwarded to your selected contacts, such as via Telegram.

5. What We Share

Aurora Security does not sell your personal data.

We share information only as needed to provide the safety features you choose. Depending on your settings, information may be shared with:

  • your selected emergency contacts to deliver alerts, location information, phone calls, SMS messages, AI summaries, or emergency audio clips;
  • telecommunications providers when the App sends SMS messages or places phone calls through your device;
  • Telegram if you use Telegram-based emergency delivery;
  • mapping or location services when location links are generated for emergency sharing; and
  • Aurora's backend infrastructure only as needed to register your Telegram binding, retrieve your configured Telegram recipients, and relay emergency alert deliveries.

6. What Aurora Stores

On your device, Aurora Security may store information locally on your device, such as:

  • your settings and preferences;
  • your configured emergency phone numbers;
  • Telegram binding information needed by the App;
  • locally saved history records; and
  • locally saved emergency audio clips, if generated.

On Aurora's backend, Aurora's current backend stores limited account and routing data necessary to support Telegram delivery, such as:

  • user identifier;
  • bind code;
  • device label; and
  • Telegram contact binding information and delivery routing identifiers.

Aurora's current backend is not designed to store continuous microphone audio.

Aurora's current backend also does not write routine alert logs, emergency audio clips, or AI analysis text to Aurora's database as persistent records as part of normal delivery flow. However, emergency data may pass through backend infrastructure temporarily in order to be delivered to your selected contacts.

7. Third-Party Services

Certain App features rely on third-party services or networks. These may include:

  • Telegram;
  • SMS or phone carrier services;
  • mapping or location-link services; and
  • Android system notification services.

These third parties may process information according to their own privacy policies and terms. Aurora Security does not control how third-party providers handle information once it is transmitted to them or to your selected contacts.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

Information stored locally on your device remains under your control unless and until you delete it, clear app data, or uninstall the App.

Backend account and Telegram binding information may be retained for as long as needed to support the Telegram alert feature, unless removed from Aurora's service records.

If you uninstall the App or clear local app storage, locally stored settings and history may be deleted from your device.

9. Your Choices and Controls

You may:

  • choose whether to enable AI analysis;
  • choose whether to enable Telegram, SMS, or phone call alerts;
  • choose whether to allow emergency audio sharing to contacts;
  • revoke permissions at any time in Android system settings;
  • update or remove your configured emergency contacts; and
  • stop using the App at any time.

Please note that revoking permissions or disabling required system capabilities may prevent some features from working properly.

10. Children's Privacy

Aurora Security is not intended for children under the age required by applicable law without parental or guardian supervision. If you believe personal data from a child has been provided inappropriately, please contact us.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may update the effective date and publish the revised version on our website.
